My Biggest “Aha” in Quitting Sugar by Joan Kent, PhD

This happened so long ago, I often forget it happened at all. But it’s worth mentioning for those who are going through it – or may go through it.

The first time I detoxed from sugar completely, I felt as if I could do anything because my energy was off the charts.

That’s where the trouble started.

I was used to being consumed (excuse pun) by food:  What I would eat that day, could eat, couldn’t eat, needed to avoid. What I craved, how I would handle the cravings, and on and on.

Being SO immersed in this problem, I had no idea how to get through my day — let alone a week or more — without those issues dictating my behavior.

Crazy as it seemed, my reaction to my new-found energy was to eat some sugar. It immediately removed the problematic high energy. But it put me back in all-too-familiar territory.

The good news was I didn’t want to be back there, feeling the way I had most of my life. Bottom line, I went through the detox procedure again, got back on track — and did NOT sabotage it when I reached Sugar-Quitting Nirvana.

But people weren’t doing this stuff back then, and I’d been unprepared.

And I tell you so you WILL be ready for it and not let it throw you off-balance — and back to sugar.

Detoxing from sugar is long-term behavior, and it’s worth it. The benefits last forever.
